  I brought my 15 1/2 golden retriever into For Paws.  Normally, he is very well behaved.  I turned my head for a second and my dog Jake,had bit into a giant  four pound tube of fancy dog food.  I was thrilled Jake found something he liked, and obviously I bought it because the single bite was almost a quarter of the tube.  He loves it and I am so grateful that it we now have a new brand of dog food that my dog loves, and that Marguerite was so nice about my naughty dog.    

The food is natural and the staff knows so much.  Im just grateful that he did not bite into something more expensive .  I love this store.

  Patti and Bill have moved to a larger space and it's wonderful. They now have parking and the most amazing catio for the adorable rescue  kittens through Angle Cat Network!

  Patty and Bill run the very best pet store in Marin, and while you are shopping you can visit with kittens and an occasional guinea pig- Patty fosters kittens through the Cat Angel Network. She usually has chickens in the back yard and chicks under a heat lamp in the store. Along with the aforementioned doggy bathing station, it's just a nice local business with wonderful caring proprietors.

  Shop local! Very nice owners, great selection of higher end pet food at the best pricing I've seen anywhere.

  My dog likes to walk into bars. Seriously. You walk down the street with him and he'll pass by every store and restaurant... but the second you pass a bar, he's pulling you to go in there. If I'm with strangers, I can pull off the whole "Wow, he's never done anything like that before, there must be something in there that smells familiar!" Most people, however, know better. I personally think it's because the smell of liquor reminds him of all of my friends who come over drunk and give him tons of affection. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

So it's refreshing when he actually pulls me into non-bar establishments - particularly ones that are made for animals. This place is small, but they sell quality goods. My dog loves the Sea Mobility Venison Jerky treats (really, though, who wouldn't?) - and they carry them (for a pretty penny). The girl working here was really sweet and engaging - and helpful.

My dog liked it so much he tried to pull me back in when we walked past it a second time. Fucking lush.

  Five stars for five star animal-loving people. My 4 year old daughter, Chloe, had two cats tragically  pass away on back to back days about two weeks ago.  An incredible cat they helped rescue and Chloe have officially fallen in love.  Thank you For Paws!!!  She also got to spend some time with the chickens 🙂

  I love this pet store. The people running the place are so nice and so helpful. They always remember you. It's definitely a place that makes you feel like family. Fairfax is really lucky to have a pet store like this.

  I love supporting my local community, and shopping at For Paws is one way I do it! This neighborhood pet store is owned by a really groovy gal named Marguerite, and her cutey pie pups.  For Paws focuses on carrying a lot of locally made and eco-friendly pet products - yay! While the shop is small, Marguerite is happy to order anything you might need.

  Our dog wandered from our house, was picked up by an out-of-towner, and Patty-the owner of For Paws-offered to keep the dog at her shop until she could find the owner.
She coordinated having our dog scanned by The Marin Humane Society (our dog was not wearing her collar), and within 3 hours we got our dog back. She handled an emergency situation perfectly. What a great resource for the community here in Fairfax! Thank you Patty!!!

Just found out she will order the food our dog eats. We will be loyal customers!

  The women at the cash register (I think she's the owner) was extremely helpful. They had everything we needed and great recommendations. They also have a drive up pick up right now so you don't even have to go inside!

  I have to confess I only buy rare gifts for other people's pets here, but I love this store. The owner and all of the employees are so nice and helpful and they have eco-friedly options. But I am prompted to write this because of a recent incident. I had a little 5 year old visitor that I needed to entertain for a couple of hours on a rainy morning, so I took her to For Paws  to visit the kittens. She was thrilled - until she accidentally stepped on one and was then devastated. The owner simultaneously comforted both child and kitten until child was holding purring kitten and  smiling through tears. I wish I had a pet so I could shower them with business, but in the mean time, here is a Yelp!

  It was Christmas Eve at 4.30 and my dog rolled in poop and smelled to high heaven!  She is a timid rescue dog and is terrified of water and I didn't know how I would get her cleaned up in time for the festivities.  I stopped at my local pet store not thinking it would still be open, but it was.  Patti, the owner, was my Christmas Angel a true dog whisperer!  She helped me get my dog into the bath, coaxed her with soothing words and took over the shampooing and bathing.  The shop was busy all the while, everyone loves this store, and I wouldn't go anywhere else to get everything I need for my dog. This is a local family business at it's very best, I cannot recommend it more highly.  Thank you Patti, the dog Saint of Fairfax!

  I can walk here from my home,  see the wonderful kittens and bunnies and puppies, up for adoption, buy my fav cat food at better- than -other -places pricing in San Rafael and not heat up the planet and add to bad traffic!
Also here I can help the Town I love with sales tax and support  local business owners/animal lovers!!

It gets no better! .

  I'm a single mama who came in with my 2-year old son and my stinky, dirty 75lbs Siberian Husky who was desperately in need of a bath. I had already resigned myself to the idea that we were ALL going to get a bath that morning, but it didn't happen. The owner of the store got us all set up, then very graciously took my son to meet the rescue kitties and bunnies while the big guy and I got his soap on. What a relief to not have to juggle/wrestle/negotiate with babies and dogs and gods and goddesses on high to get the job done! I was, and still am, so grateful for her help. And the young ladies working in the store were just as lovely. I will continue to give them my business and highly recommend that you do, too. My son is still talking about the kitties. If only I weren't so allergic...

  Best place to clean your dog, get some accessories and get dog wisdom from Patty, the owner. Just in case you have a bunny, bird, feed wild birds or have a feline, this is your place. Drive right past the national brands and support your local merchant.  Patty will keep you coming back with her kindness and love of all animals large and small.

  We recently discovered this hidden gem in Fairfax and paid a second visit to sniff it out. Lovely people, nice things, healthful foods, great service, and easy parking in its own lot! Your dog or cat will be delighted if you stop by for delicious treats or foods or fun toys. We needed a bed for a crate and they special ordered it with next day delivery at a great price and showed our rescue pup lots of love on his first outing.

  For Paws is the best little pet shop one could ever want. You can always find premium products and great prices. If you need something you can't find, then typically it can be ordered. Patty provides exceptional service and is very knowledgeable, not to mention lovely and friendly. I love this place. I go to other big pet stores and get lost and can't even find what I'm looking for. At For Paws, I can find what I need quickly, and if not, Patty will get it for me. Problem solved. This is one exceptional small business.

  What a wonderful pet store! Great selection and prices. And the kind and knowledgeable woman who runs it is like a fairy godmother compared to the Pet Cottage people (where I will no longer be shopping!) - she is there to help and you leave there feeling like you're an important part of the community. They also have little bunnies in there right now - so bring your kids with you to pet them!

  Great service, friendly and good prices! I appreciate how they always have what I need in stock and it's easy to pop in and out to get it anytime my dog runs out. Their new location around the corner is bigger and quite nice!

  What a charming store! The first time I paid a visit was with some trepidation. I expected the business to be too cute and pricey.  What a surprise I got when when the proprietress, Patty, advised me on what the best type of food to give my dog. She knew her stuff, spent time with me, the prices where right, and I walked out with about a pound of free samples. I love the place and am now a regular customer.
